All servers are housed in a highly secure environment and monitored 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Technical support is available at all times too.

What is hosting?

A website is a collection of computer files and every website has to be stored on a computer somewhere. "Hosting" is the term used for the storage of a website on a server that has access to the Internet. This means that hundreds or thousands of people can view your website at the same time anywhere in the world. Our hosting partners also provide email as part of the same service.

Most websites are best placed on a shared server as the probable traffic (level of visitors) is unlikely to exceed certain levels. If it is likely to exceed these levels, or the website content is of a certain type, then we look to other hosting methods. (See Dedicated)

Shared hosting is a cost effective and secure method of hosting most websites. "Shared" means that other websites belonging to other people are on the server, but no-one has access to your website files except you.

Normally we manage your hosting and email accounts and charge you on an annual basis. Our shared hosting service is highly reliable however inevitably on rare occasions it can go wrong. If anything goes wrong, all you need to do is call us for free and let us sort out the problem.

If you wish to administer your website yourself, we will also provide your secure "FTP" usernames and passwords. "FTP" (File Transfer Protocol) is a method of transferring your files to the shared hosting server. You can access your website in this way 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
