Email Setup

Setting up Microsoft Outlook to receive your email is relatively easy. It is important to remember that Hansam only handles the Incoming email. Your Outgoing email is handled by your Internet Service Provider (BT Internet for example). Follow these instructions and if you have any problems, contact us and we will help.

Please click to return to the Previous Page

These instructions are mainly for users of Microsoft XP Outlook and Outlook Express. Other email clients are similar and you may be able to adapt these instructions to suit.

1. Click on your Outlook icon or open Outlook by going via your Start button on Windows.

2. Go to the TOOLS and click on Email Accounts

3. Click to Add a new account

4. Then click POP3 asnd NEXT

5. On the next page (seen below, you will need to enter your email account information)

(a) Your name
(b) Your email address as supplied
(c) Incoming server - this is your domain (ie our domain is hansam.co.uk) and should be written - mail.yourdomain.co.uk (ours is mail.hansam.co.uk).
(d) Outgoing server - this is your service provider ie BT Connect and should be written - SMTP.btconnect.com

Some Internet Service Providers (BT Internet for example) may require SMTP Authentication in order to send emails. Click Here for instructions for using SMTP Authentication.

NOTE: if you use the Hansam dialup service, the SMTP setting will be SMTP.yourdomain.co.uk

(e) User Name - this is your email address
(f) Password - this is your email password supplied by us.

Note: the email password is unlikely to be the same as your Internet connection password.

Once the above information has been entered, click More Settings

6. The first blank field dictates how others see your email address when they receive it. Therefore is is probably best to enter your name ie Fred Bloggs or the purpose of the email address ie Enquries - Hansam Internet

The other fields may be left blank. Click OK which will return you to the screen at Section 5 above.

6. You can test your email settings by pressing the Test button. You must be connected to the Internet to do this.

7. Press Next and then Finish and you have completed the task.

We are happy to discuss your project with you with no obligation.
